Baked Turkey and Cheese Rolls
These rolls are a great appetizer for Super Bowl game day, tailgating parties, and holiday get-togethers, like Thanksgiving and Christmas! They’re also a wonderful anytime snack that everyone loves (especially kids!). The kitchen smells so good while you’re making these, so be ready for everyone to be hungry by the time they’re done!
Ingredients:
- Crescent roll dough (not the rolls themselves but the sheet of refrigerated dough)
- Butter
- Ground garlic
- Salt
- Pepper
- Bacon bits
- Sliced Colby jack cheese (or cheese of choice)
- Slices of turkey (could make a variety and use other meats)
Recipe
Open the crescent roll sheet dough and stretch out or roll out using a rolling pin, to be approximately 9×13 inches, on a piece of parchment paper or floured surface. In a small bowl, melt the butter with the garlic, salt, and pepper. Brush on the crescent dough using a pastry brush in an even layer.Â
Leaving about 1/2 inch at the bottom, lay the 8 pieces of cheese into two rolls. This will leave the top 1/3 of the crescent roll dough empty. Sprinkle the bacon bits onto the cheese.Â
Situate the turkey slices to cover the cheese, using two layers if needed and overlapping. From the bottom, roll tightly upward, enclosing the turkey and cheese in the roll-up.Â
Roll Up Instructions
Pull the top 1/3 of the dough tightly and the butter will act as glue to hold down the seam. Cut into 10 equal rounds. Lay the rounds in a non-stick sprayed casserole dish.Â
If you prefer, you can brush the tops of the rolls with additional melted butter and garlic for extra flavor! additional Place them in a baking dish and cook in the oven for 25 minutes until the dough is baked, puffy, and golden brown on top.Â
These disappear in no time, so I doubt you’ll have leftovers! You might want to double the batch if you’re using this for a party appetizer, just to be safe.
