Preheat the oven to 350F. Lay the meat on the bottom of the 9×13 pan, touching but not overlapping as much as possible. In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream and onion dip mix to create French onion dip.

Spread the mixture evenly over the pork chops using a rubber spatula, ensuring that it covers the entire surface so that no portions of the meat are exposed. Sprinkle crispy fried onions evenly over the top. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and cook for an additional 30 minutes, or until the meat is fully cooked through. 1. I tried this tonight and the family loved it! Mu daughter normally doesn’t like pork chops and she said it was a keeper!

    2. This was very good. I cooked it for 1 hr. & 45 min. I would not add the fried onions until the last 10 min. as they were mushy. I would make it again!

  1. Looks very good will try just hope they are tender my husband has false teeth and somtimes has trouble chewing meat

    1. I always stab my meats with the fork or use a meat tenderizer hammer before I cook them. The flavors soak in better plus the meat comes out very tender. I also cover the meat with meat tenderizer before adding any additional toppings.

  2. I’m definitely going to make this ! It looks delicious and I love that its quick and easy!!! I make a pork chop dish where I brown my pork chops . Put them in a baking dish cover with sauerkraut then I cover with foil put in the oven for about 30 minutes to make sure the sauerkraut gets getting hot. It’s wonderful sometimes I will cook down the sauerkraut so it’s not quite as tart before I add it to the top of the pork chops it’s very yummy.

    1. Add honey with the sauerkraut and pork chops it’s so good and you don’t have to cook down the sauerkraut.

  3. I was excited to try this as it looked delicious. However, the sour cream separated while cooking and it didn’t look like the photo. The flavor was good but it might work out better to mix a can of cream of mushroom with the sour cream first, then cook.

    1. Might try with pre-made French onion dip instead. That is what we are planning to do. Might add a bit of sour cream to it too

    1. I was wondering the same thing or even using softened cream cheese. My husband despises sour cream and can taste 1/8 tsp in a recipe such as this. Any recipe with sour cream, mayonnaise, or tomato is not gonna pass the “this is good Hun” test in our house.

      1. Hi there, when I use the onion soup mix to make onion dip I do half sour cream and half mayo. Maybe you could just do all mayo since your hubs doesn’t like sour cream 😊

  4. Tried this recipe and it was one of the best ones I’ve tried. I will definitely use this recipe again!

  5. Made this tonight and so tasty, I couldn’t easily see chicken or a turkey breast. I took the foil off last 10 minutes and turned up to 400 to make sure onions were crisp.

  6. Quick, easy & delicious! I’m definitely going to be making this again with either pork or chicken breasts.

I see the problem and why there is a huge misunderstanding about cook time. Yes, the recipe card says cover with foil and bake 30 minutes then remove the foil and CONTINUE baking another 30 minutes.
BUT… if you read the full recipe description and how-to section, the part about continuing to bake uncovered is not mentioned at all.

    1. Cover the dish with tinfoil and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove the foil and cook for up to 30 minutes more until the meat is fully cooked through.

      per recipe…..

  7. Very good! I used eight 3/4 inch pork chops, baked @ 325 in a convection oven for one and one half hour, came out so tender, i added garlic powder to chops&a little seasoning salt, will definitely make again

  8. This looks delicious! I’ve made another skillet version before but would love to try this. Would there be a way to do it with caramelized onions instead?

  9. I was looking forward to these pork chops and served them after 30 min. as recipe sats. They were still raw and had to bake 15 min longer at 375 degrees. Once done they were very delicious. Glad that didn’t happen with company!

    1. not sure if people are understanding u put the foil on for 30 min then take off and cook another 30 min it says cook time is 1 hour prep is 5 min

      1. It doesn’t say cook for 30 minutes with foil on then remove and cook 30 minutes more. I did it tonight and cooked 30 minutes with foil on and 20 minutes with foil off. They turned out perfect. Will make again.

        1. It actually clearly states 30 min. with foil on and then remove foil and cook up to an additional 30 min. based on the thickness of the pork chops.

          1. You are correct it DOES clearly say 30 minutes more. Not sure how people are missing that!

    1. I used thin and boneless and they were delicious! My whole family liked them which made the recipe a winner at my house. 😊

  10. Can this be done in a slow cooker with thicker pork chops? If so how long I. Slow cooker?

  11. Very good. I used full fat sour cream…. No separation. Made it low carb & left out onion rings. Used onion soup mix. Baked 350 for 30 mins. It’s probably my oven but would reduce time by 5 minutes. Came out just a little dry.

    1. I was wondering the same thing because my husband despises sour cream. I’ve tried sneaking it in a few recipes over the years but I swear he can taste 1/4 tsp in a recipe like this. I don’t see why softened cream cheese wouldn’t work though. I may just go ahead and try it since I have a pack of chops in the freezer.
For all the people asking about whether they can use bone-in chops….well, yes. They’re actually more flavorful and don’t dry out as easily. Thinner chops will do that quicker too. I’d use a thicker cut pork chop but that’s just me.

I used full fat sour cream but it separated while cooking. Might try something different next time- otherwise good and very tasty

  12. I made these for the first time tonight. We loved it! I made one mistake, I should have used the name brand soup/dip mix. I didn’t realize there is a big difference in flavor. Thank you for the recipe!

  13. Sounds delicious! I’m a WW lifer ..can sour cream be replaced with Fage plain zero fat yogurt?????

  14. Just made these using thin boneless pork chops. Absolutely delicious. Next I’m gonna try with chicken.

  15. Tried this tonight. It was good but a little salty. My husband would not believe I’m saying this because I’m a salt loving freak! Chips vs brownies??? Chips win with me. That’s how much I love salt. May just be me. Try it!! Thanks for the recipe!!

  16. Could you do this with thick cut chops? I don’t have thin cut of so how much longer would I need to cook them

  17. This was a delicious and easy recipe! I did not have boneless pork chops so I pushed bone-in and cooked for 1 hour at 350. Will definitely make again!!

  18. I am making these for supper tonight per my husband’s request! He asks for these often. So easy and delish! I do substitute store bought French onion dip. Thank you for sharing.

  19. My husband came across this recipe on FB. He sent to me & said he wanted to try. I was shocked because he isn’t a pork fan. I made it and OMG we both loved it. I found some semi thin butterfly chops and used them. I made 2 extras for my lunch and they were perfect warmed back up in the oven. Fried onions crunched back up too. Thanks for sharing the recipe! 😀

  20. Made this tonight and it was soooo yummy! Requests to make it weekly now as everyone in the family loved it. So easy to make as well. A+

  21. Make it all the time. The only way I like pork chops, my husband loves it! I use natural yogurt instead of sour cream , healthier, and put crispy onions the last ten minutes to have them crunchy.

  22. Follow the RECIPE, not the introduction/hints/story. You bake for 30 mins with foil over your dish, and approximately another 30 mins without the foil. It IS stated in the recipe, but not the prior verbiage.

  23. I took a pork loin roast and cut into about 1/2 inch portions and proceeded with directions. But I personally think that adding either some hand shredded cheddar before you add the French fried onions would absolutely make these better. The reason for shredding your own is they add tooooooo many different preservatives and bs. Much better flavor!!! IMO

  24. not sure if this was asked yet or not but would this be good with chicken too? i loved it on the porkchops such a quick easy meal that the whole family loved.

  25. This is truly an easy and delicious way to make pork chops. We raise our own pork and I’m always looking for different ways to serve it. My husband absolutely loves the way these turn out. And he’s had a LOT of pork chops over the years!

  26. I made this with chicken thighs instead of pork chops (just what I had in the freezer). Definitely will make this again, very easy and very good.

  27. I made this awhile ago for dinner and it was a big hit. I am making it again tonight for dinner. It’s delicious and easy.

  28. Made this and changed up some and family loves it, made with chicken too. Leave out onion dip mix, swap out the sour cream with a mixture of dean’s French onion dip and cream cheese chive & onion top with shredded cheese and top with fried onions. So delicious!

  29. This looks & sounds like a wonderful dish!! I wonder if you mean the “Lipton, Onion Soup Mix”? I have never seen a “Dip Mix”

    1. Hi! It’s the same thing. I think it might actually be called a “Soup and Dip Mix” (by Lipton). Hope that helps!

Just cooked these for supper. My husband loved them! Said he would “definitely eat these again”!! And he is a picky eater…. Thank you for such a good recipe! ❤️❤️❤️

  31. 5 stars
This was so easy to make. I was very pleased with how flavorful it was. Husband approved also.

  32. 5 stars
Easy & delicious though it was quite salty. I used full fat sour cream and there was some separation but still tasted great. I wonder if the timing for my thin, boneless chops was too long. Next time I will start using an instant read thermometer after pulling foil off and then at ten minute intervals.

  33. 5 stars
While it tasted great but for some reason my sour cream mixture looked curdled? I just bought it from the store. It was fine when I put it on pork chops. I was expecting it to be creamy and it wasn’t. Maybe it’s suppose to be like that? After I took tinfoil off I only cooked it 20 minutes. Next time I will try 10-15 minutes. My husband loved it. And it did taste good. You definitely don’t need any added salt. But I will add to my rotation and play around with it. Thanks!

    1. I love hearing that, thank you! For reheating without drying the pork chops out, preheat the oven to 350°F, place the chops in a covered dish with a tablespoon of water per chop, and bake for about 30 minutes or until they are warm.

  34. I would think that an hour for pork chops would be too much unless they are inch plus. It would depend on the thickness. We do not like over down pork!

  35. 5 stars
This was easy and so delicious! I added mushrooms because I had them on hand. Plus a bit of beef broth. Thank you for a new favorite recipe!
