Big Mac Tacos

In this taco burger recipe, seasoned ground beef is portioned and spread over tortillas. The tortillas are cooked on a hot griddle or skillet until the beef is crispy, then flipped and topped with Cheddar cheese. After melting the cheese, the tacos are finished with shredded lettuce and pickles before serving.

Ingredients:

  • Ground beef: This is the main component of the burger, it can be substituted with ground turkey or ground chicken. For this recipe, I use 85/15 or 90/10 beef because it is leaner and less greasy than 80/20 beef.
  • Onion powder and Garlic powder: Both of these are used to enhance the flavor of the burger patties. You can use your favorite spices instead.
  • Flour tortillas: Serve as the burger bun. Feel free to use corn tortillas or lettuce wraps instead. You could also use toasted hamburger buns in place of tortillas!
  • Cheddar cheese slices: These are melted over the burger to add creaminess and a delicious cheesy flavor. Other cheese varieties like Swiss, Pepper Jack, or Monterey Jack can be used instead.
  • Shredded lettuce: This can be substituted with arugula or spinach.
  • Pickles: Dill, bread, and butter, or spicy pickles can be used instead for unique flavors. Pickles can also be substituted with sliced cucumbers.
  • Sauce: I highly recommend the homemade sauce in this recipe but feel free to use your favorite sauce.

Can I substitute the mayonnaise in the sauce with Greek yogurt?

Absolutely! Greek yogurt gives a tangy and creamy base that works really well as a
mayo substitute.

Can I use a different type of vinegar in the sauce?

Yes, if you don’t have apple cider vinegar, you can totally use white wine vinegar, rice
vinegar, or lime juice as substitutes.

Can I make the sauce ahead of time?

Yes, you can make the sauce ahead of time, cover it with a lid, and store it in the fridge
for up to 5 days. Be sure to stir it well before using it.

Big Mac Sauce

Heat up your griddle or large skillet to high heat for searing and then place the tortilla on the skillet meat side down. Smash it down firmly using a burger press or a spatula so as to make it extremely thin. It’s okay if the burger is a little bigger than the tortilla.

Smash Burger Taco recipe

Let the meat cook for about 2-3 minutes or until the beef has darkened in color and is crisp on the bottom. Lower the heat to medium heat and place the cheddar cheese slices on top of the beef.
