Form your patty. Using a 9×13 baking dish or sheet pan, press your ground beef mixture into a rectangle inside the pan. Bake the meat in the oven for 20-25 minutes.

Top with cheese. Remove the meat from the oven and top with American cheese slices. Place back in the oven and bake just until melted (about 5 minutes). Once the cheese is melted, remove your burger patty and set it aside

Spread the sauce. Spread half of your Big Mac sauce over the bottom of the buns, and top with shredded lettuce.

Add the patty. Top the lettuce with your ground beef patty.

Top with veggies. On top of the patty, layer your sliced onions and pickles and drizzle with the remaining sauce.

Add the top bun. Top with slider bun tops.

Brush with butter. Use a basting brush to brush the tops of your buns with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Storage

Transfer the leftovers to an airtight container within 1 hour. Place the container in the refrigerator as far back as possible. Your sliders will last for 3-4 days.

I would be amiss if I told you that I’ve never woken up in the middle of the night and snuck one of these copycat Big Mac sliders out of the refrigerator and ate it cold (wink!). The flavors taste every bit as delicious when cold.

Big Mac Sliders

Big Mac Sliders are the miniature version of your favorite fast food burger! Juicy burgers with pickles, onions, lettuce, and secret sauce!
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 12 sliders

Equipment

  • mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Plastic wrap
  • stirring spoon
  • casserole dishes
  • pastry brush

Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons French dressing
  • 2 tablespoons sweet relish
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoons salt

For the Sliders

  • 2 pounds beef, 80/20 or leaner
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 12 slider buns (still connected)
  • 6 slices American cheese
  • cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 sweet onion, sliced
  • 1 cup sliced bread and butter pickles
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Preheat. Preheat your oven to 350°F.

For the Sauce:

  • Make the Sauce. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, French dressing, sweet relish, onion powder, dijon mustard, garlic powder and salt.
  • Refrigerate. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate.

For the Sliders:

  • Prepare the meat. In a large mixing bowl, combine your ground beef, salt, pepper, and onion powder.
  • Make your patty. Use a wooden spoon (or your hands) to mix just until the seasoning is evenly distributed. You don’t want to overmix, or you’ll get a tough burger patty.
  • Form your patty. Using a 9×13 baking dish or sheet pan, press your ground beef into a rectangle inside the pan.
  • Bake. Bake the meat in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F. The meat will shrink, this is normal and will help it fit the size of the buns better!
  • Top with cheese. Remove the meat from the oven and top with cheese slices.
  • Melt the cheese. Place back in the oven and bake just until melted (about 5 minutes). Once the cheese is melted, remove your burger patty and set it aside in a covered warm place. Give your 9×13 dish a quick wash, you are about to use it again!
  • Assemble your burgers. Using your 9×13 baking dish, add the bottom of the slider buns.
  • Spread the sauce. Spread half of your sauce over the bottom of the buns, and top with shredded lettuce.
  • Add the patty. Top the lettuce with your ground beef patty.
  • Top with veggies. On top of the patty, layer your sliced onions and pickles and drizzle with the remaining sauce.
  • Add the top bun. Top with slider bun tops.
  • Brush with butter. Use a basting brush to brush the tops of your buns with butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Notes

Do I have to use store bought dressing or can I make my own?
Your own works great. If you have the time to make it from scratch, you can absolutely do that. At the same time, there are a ton of great quality bottled dressings on the market even for people with food allergies and dietary restrictions. With all the things on your to-do list, don’t feel bad about using a shortcut to make your life easier.

What size baking dish did you use?
The size of your baking dish for your meat will depend on the fat content of the meat. A 9×11 dish is great for anything leaner than 80/20. This refers to 80% protein and 20% fat in the meat. Leaner meat doesn’t shrink as much but 80/20 while more juicy and flavorful, can expect it to shrink down quite a bit so you’ll want to use a 9×13 pan for your meat. When it comes to assembling your Big Mac sliders, you’ll use a 9×13 dish.
