Crockpot Honey Garlic Chicken Recipe! Tender chicken thighs in a sweet and sticky sauce with a kick of heat. Serve this recipe on a bed of fluffy rice for a delicious Asian-style meal that comes together while your crockpot does all the work.

Crockpot Honey Garlic Chicken
Crockpot honey garlic chicken is sweet and savory with a slight kick and roasted garlic flavor. This honey garlic chicken has a sticky sauce similar to orange chicken or teriyaki sauce. The red pepper flakes make this great for adults but if you have kids or don’t like spice you can leave them out.

Ingredients:
- honey
- low-sodium soy sauce
- BBQ sauce – You could also use ketchup. Honey BBQ sauce would give an extra honey flavor kick!
- roasted garlic
- red pepper flakes – You can leave this out if you prefer a mild sauce.
- boneless skinless chicken thighs – This recipe will also work with bone-in, skinless chicken thighs, chicken breasts, or tenders. Be sure to adjust the cooking time to make sure the chicken reaches 165 degrees. Chicken with bones will take longer to cook and breasts/tenders will take less time.
- cornstarch – Although you can use flour to thicken this recipe the sauce won’t be as thick and the flavor will change slightly.
- green onion – optional
- sesame seeds – optional
- white or brown rice – (optional for serving)
Additional Flavors
Although this honey garlic chicken is absolutely delicious on its own, here are a few ideas on extras that you can add for variation in this recipe.
- Add diced red-orange or yellow pepper and sliced onions for more of a stir-fry type meal.
- Use hot sauce instead of red pepper flakes for a little acid in your meal.
- Toss in potatoes, broccoli, and carrots 2 hours before it’s done for a complete meal.

Instructions:
Load your crockpot. To your crockpot add the honey, soy sauce, roasted garlic, and red pepper flakes. Stir until well combined and smooth.
Add the chicken to the sauce and give it a good stir to coat the chicken completely.

Cook. Cover your crockpot with the lid and cook on high for 3 hours or low for 5 hours. The chicken is cooked when it reaches 165°F.
Thicken your sauce. Remove ¼ cup of the sauce to a small bowl and mix with cornstarch until no longer lumpy. Pour the mixture back into the crockpot and stir the sauce and chicken well to thicken and coat the chicken. If your sauce still isn’t thick enough after about 5 minutes, add another ½ teaspoon the same way.

Garnish the honey garlic chicken with green onion and sesame seeds and serve on its own or over rice.
Storage
If you have any leftovers, allow them to cool on the counter for 1-2 hours. Crockpot honey garlic chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
To reheat your chicken thighs, place them along with the sauce into a pan over medium heat. Cover and heat for about 7-8 minutes. You could also place individual portions on a microwave-safe plate and reheat in the microwave for 2-3 minutes each on high power.

Freezer Recipe
You can make this recipe ahead of time and freeze it so you can enjoy it later. Allow the chicken to cool before placing it in a resealable bag or airtight container and keep it in the freezer for 3-4 months for optimal freshness. When you’re ready to eat, defrost your chicken thighs and sauce and add them to a casserole dish. Preheat the oven to 350°F and cook your honey garlic chicken for 15-20 minutes.
