Equipment

  • Crockpot
  • stirring spoon or spatula
  • Small Bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • cup honey
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon roasted garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs (about 6 thighs)
  • 2 Tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 Tablespoon sliced green onion
  • ½ Tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Suggested for serving- white or brown rice

Instructions

  • Load your crockpot. To your crockpot add the honey, soy sauce, roasted garlic, and red pepper flakes. Stir until well combined and smooth.
  • Add the chicken to the sauce and give it a good stir to coat the chicken completly.
  • Cook. Cover your crockpot with the lid and cook on high for 3 hours or low for 5 hours.
  • Thicken your sauce. Remove ¼ cup of the sauce to a small bowl and mix with cornstarch until no longer lumpy. Pour the mixture back into the crockpot and stir the sauce and chicken well to thicken and coat the chicken. If your sauce still isn’t thick enough after about 5 minutes, add another ½ teaspoon the same way.
  • Garnish the honey garlic chicken with green onion and sesame seeds and serve on its own or over rice.
