1cupbrown sugarNOTE: The brown sugar can be substituted with white granulated sugar, or try 1/2 cup white sugar with 1/2 cup brown sugar.
½cupsmelted butter
2eggs
1teaspoonvanilla extract
1cupchocolate chipsNOTE: A roughly chopped chocolate bar can be used in place of the chocolate chips.
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a square baking dish with parchment paper or prepare with non-stick spray
Add the flour and baking powder to a large bowl. Stir to combine and set aside
Add the brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to another mixing bowl. Mix until well combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold through the milk chocolate chips.
Spoon the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the surface with a spoon or spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until starting to turn golden and the top has set (the center will still be gooey).
Allow time for chilling in the baking dish completely before removing and slicing.
Notes
These cookie bars also make a great dessert when served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.Unless serving warm, it’s best to let these cookie bars cool completely in the tin.The cooler they are, the easier they are to cut.
